Taiwan and mainland China signed three agreements on Tuesday in the latest round of trade negotiations. And decided to hold the next round of cross-strait talks on tariff reductions in the first half of next year in china main land

The trade negotiations in cross-strait was held since the KMT (Kuomintang) was returned to power in May 2008 in Taiwan, the fourth meeting reached an agreement on Standards and Metrology Certification ; Inspection cooperation, fishing crew and agricultural inspection and quarantine cooperation of labor service cooperation.

Taiwan and mainland China resumed cross-strait negotiations in June last year, which was interrupted for about 10 years.

Current round of negotiations has been widely regarded as the prelude of covering a broader range of cross-strait economic cooperation framework agreement (Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement, referred to as ECFA).

China will work with other Southeast Asian economies to establish closer trade relations in 2010. In order to mitigate the impact, Taiwan has made every effort, to sign framework agreement on cross-strait economic cooperation is one of them. Chinese mainland is Taiwan’s largest export destination, 2008 cross-Strait trade volume reached 1,300 billion U.S. dollars.

Cross-strait trade negotiations will determine the treatment of the first industries to enjoy tariff reduction list.

Taiwan had previously expressed the hope that the bank, textiles, auto parts manufacturing and machinery industries included in the above list.

Zheng Lizhong said the contents of the list are still under discussion.
